We breathe all day everyday, but it’s something we rarely think about - until we find ourselves losing control of our emotions, unable to catch our breath during a workout, or we begin to develop dysfunctional breathing patterns that don’t serve us.
For years, breathing techniques have been harnessed through practices like meditation, yoga, and breathwork practices to calm the mind and body in times of distress, help us tune into the present moment, and raise energy and focus to support optimum performance.
Most people don’t know, however, that almost every function in our body begins with a simple breath - our sleep, moods, digestion, energy, muscles, biology, physiology, and body chemistry - they are all affected by the way we breathe.
It even influences how we show up and make decisions!
Through regular breathing techniques and developing a deeper understanding of how the breath works in our body, we can tap into a sense of balance and stability, as well as access numerous health benefits for greater overall wellbeing.
